office for turner engineering

This adaptive reuse project created office space for a growing engineering company in a vacated furniture warehouse.  Frameless glass-fronted offices and conference spaces adjoin a central open-office area oriented to take advantage of the full height windows facing the river.  The exposed ductwork and timber structure combine with the smooth ceiling and work-surfaces to create a playful balance between raw and refined.

Energy efficient mechanical systems include geothermal heat pumps which use the earth as a heat source (in the winter) or a heat sink (in the summer).  The efficient indirect LED lighting is tied to sensors which automatically adjust light levels based upon need.  A water saving shower allows employees to clean up after biking to work or a run during lunch.
